Our Story

A company built around a straightforward idea.

Financial knowledge shouldn't feel like a privilege. algonqisfs exists to change that for adults who have reached midlife with questions, not answers.

Who We Are

Founded on the belief that it's never too late to understand your finances.

algonqisfs was founded in Toronto in 2016 by educators who kept noticing the same gap: adults in their forties, fifties, and sixties who had managed their financial lives responsibly for decades, but who still felt uncertain when bigger decisions arrived. Retirement planning. Blending finances with a new partner. Rebuilding after a period of disruption.

The people they met weren't looking for someone to manage their money. They were looking for a place to understand it — without pressure, without judgment, and without the conflict of interest that comes from someone who also sells financial products.

The name comes from the Algonquin territory that encompasses much of Ontario — a reminder that the paths people walk through midlife deserve to be travelled with as much intention as the land deserves care.

Our Mission

To provide structured, honest, and accessible financial education for Canadian adults navigating the specific questions that arise from their forties onward — grounded in the Canadian regulatory and tax environment, delivered with respect for where each person is starting from.

Education without product sales or commissions
Canadian-specific content and regulatory context
Programmes kept small enough for real conversation
Tone that respects participants' intelligence and experience

Our Standards

How we hold ourselves accountable

We think carefully about how we operate — from how content is developed to how participant information is handled.

Curriculum Review

All program content is reviewed annually and updated to reflect changes in Canadian tax rules, retirement legislation, and regulatory guidance. Participants receive current information, not outdated assumptions.

Privacy & Data Protection

Participant information is collected only as needed to deliver services and is never sold or shared with third parties. We operate in compliance with Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).

Facilitator Standards

Our facilitators maintain ongoing professional development in adult education and financial literacy. We hold regular internal calibration sessions to ensure consistency of delivery across all programs.

Participant Feedback

Every program concludes with a structured feedback process. Responses are reviewed by the founding team and inform program revisions. We take critical feedback seriously and act on it.

No Conflict of Interest

algonqisfs does not accept referral fees, affiliate income, or commissions from financial product providers. Our revenue comes solely from program fees paid by participants — keeping our interests aligned with theirs.

Accessibility Commitment

We offer virtual participation options for all programs so that mobility, geography, or scheduling constraints do not prevent engagement. We are willing to discuss accommodation needs on an individual basis.

Our Expertise

Building financial understanding, one conversation at a time.

Financial education in Canada has long been oriented toward younger adults or those with significant investable assets. algonqisfs addresses a different moment: the period from the early forties through the mid-sixties, when the financial decisions people face carry real consequence but rarely receive structured support.

Adults in this life stage often have questions about coordinating retirement savings between partners, navigating the CPP and OAS systems, understanding how TFSA and RRSP accounts interact as they approach withdrawal, managing debt while rebuilding reserves, or simply understanding which questions to ask a professional advisor before their next appointment.

Our programs are designed to address those questions directly — through group workshops, facilitated couples sessions, and multi-week programs that allow time for reflection and application. We work within the Canadian tax and regulatory framework throughout, so the knowledge participants gain is directly applicable to their own situation rather than adapted from content written for a different country or context.

algonqisfs operates from Toronto and serves clients across Ontario, with virtual program delivery available for participants elsewhere in Canada. Our office is located in the financial core of downtown Toronto, and our team brings over 30 combined years of experience in adult education, tax preparation, financial literacy facilitation, and community program development.
